"Monophobia began with Rob and myself. After meeting through a UTSU Musician's Society jam session, and further socials, we began to have practices together, aiming to compliment each others playing. We met Ingela through a friend on my course, who happened to be married to her. It wasn't until sometime later that we found she enjoyed singing, and, even later, what an incredible voice she has. John and Phil were added to the line-up recently. Phil, a friend from my course, and John, from Rob's. The name Monophobia was suggested by Rachael, who, whilst not having practiced with us as yet, will hopefully be joining us on keyboards..."

"Come the beginning of the second year (university) Monophobia was a complete unit. We started practicing straight away, and later on in September Phil rejoined us in Teesside. A few good practices later & Monophobia had found their sound, sadly however Phil could no longer practice with us for reasons unknown. Back to square one. I went on a desperate hunt to find us a new drummer, searching high, low and to the left. TFI did too, because we wouldn't have met Laddy. Let me introduce our stoner slacker doom compadre James Ladbrook, a harder drummer you wont find and a perfect fit for Monophobia. We were on track again. Practicing on a regular basis for weeks, we signed up for the first Erocktion of the year, again unfortunately we were not ready to gig and missed out. Christmas came and went, I booked us into the studio and we are currently working on the up and coming Monophobia CD, hopefully ready for our first major gigs in February."

Rob (21/01/05)

"A few points to add to Rob's previous post, Rachael is no longer with us for the simple reason that we didn't feel we had room to fit keyboards into our work, at least to a level that would compliment the sound when playing live. We are leaving the possibility open that keyboard or synth could be added to some of the recorded tracks on the CD. We are currently working on 3 new tracks whilst practising the 5 existing ones (Monophobia, Footprint in the Sand, Veiled Angel, Dichotomy, Cut With Discord)."

"Shortly before our 3rd gig in Stockton we had a practise with Mark who plays keyboards. After being bowled over by his playing we asked him to join us and so we were 6 once again. After only two practises with us Mark played his first gig in Monophobia. At the same gig we also played a song which started from something Laddy (James) had come up with on guitar and bass. In true Ladbrook style it is a very doom styled song given the Monophobia twist, which thankfully was well received by the audience that night.

Come September time Monophobia will be back to regular practises and hopefully getting a good demo put together"
