CRISIS RESPONSE (LEVEL FIVE)

In Level Five you talk about all the states with your best friend or a substitute. It's important that you enroll them in the exercise in a simple and honest way. For example, you might say, "I'm having trouble dealing with this crisis and I want you to help me. You don't have to do anything. Just listen and be there for me."

You can use the same words as you did in Levels Two through Four or you can change them. Make sure you include all the states.

After you finish the whole list, your partner may give you feedback or ask questions, if they wish, and if you agree.

An ideal partner would be someone specially trained to be a partner.

This and subsequent levels can also be done with yourself and a mirror. It should be a large mirror and you should sit or stand about 45 cm (18 in) from it. Low light or candle light may be helpful.

After you complete this exercise you may move on to Level Six.
