Each woman has her own standards for vaginal hygiene. Some professionals, like exotic dancers, may have a higher standard. The same is true for women who enjoy someone performing oral sex on them. Most women want to smell and taste O.K. Some women want to smell and taste great.
SMELL
All women have vaginal odor. It may be pleasant, unpleasant or neutral. You can find out how you smell by putting one or two fingers inside your vagina, and then smelling them. If the odor is unpleasant, it's best to see your gynecologist to discover the cause.
Your gynecologist may not seem to know much about this area. This is somewhat surprising, but not at all uncommon. You can find a new doctor or try some home remedies. The best (most effective, cheapest, safest) is to put plain yogurt into your vagina. You can just push it in with your finger or use a vaginal cream applicator or an infant bulb syringe or whatever works for you. Putting some in once a week and right after your period may produce a good result.
If your doctor tells you nothing is wrong, ask him or her for a prescription for metronidazole tablets, 250 or 500 mg. Pushing one deep inside the vagina cures most odor problems in a couple of days.
He or she may give you a prescription for MetroGel-Vaginal or Cleocin 2% vaginal cream. These are satisfactory choices, though much more expensive, and less effective than the metronidazole tablets.
You can also put a dab of perfume near the vagina, but no closer that 2-3 cm (one inch). Any closer to the opening might irritate the sensitive tissues. An advanced technique...
TASTE
It's easy to find out how you taste. Put one or two fingers inside your vagina and taste.
If you want to taste better, try yogurt as above, possibly adding a tiny amount of flavoring (experiment !) You can also put your finger into your vagina to pick up some moisture. Then sprinkle Sweet-n-Low or any artificial sweetener on your finger before placing it back inside. You'll have a sweet taste to match your sweet personality.
