When did you first join the M.B.A.S.
1978 with the late Peter MacNab of Newlyn, after spending a couple of years catching large plaice and flounder from the Newlyn Piers.

Positions held in the club.
Secretary, Team Captain, Chairman and Vice Chairman. Currently President, Treasurer and Junior Secretary.

Your first fishing trip.
On the Albert Pier, Penzance using freshwater equipment with my cousins from Berkshire in 1974.

What was your first shore caught fish.
A small Red Mullet about 8 inches long

What rod and reel did you use.
The rod was a 10ft cane rod with a solid fibreglass tip and the reel was and intrepid fixed spool. State of the art for the time I think! (I still use it for mulleting occasionally)

How many rods and reels do now own.
19 rods that I use at the moment. There are others but these have either been moth balled or are being used by juniors of the club.
9 multipliers and 10 fixed spool reels.

Which make of reels do you use most.
Abu Multipliers and Shimano fixed spool Reels.

Which make of  rods do you most.
Daiwa

If you could only ever use three of your reels again, which would you choose.
An Abu 6500c, An Abu 7000c and a Daiwa Regal X baitrunner fixed spool.

Dave is a frequent visitor to the Channel Islands

If you could only ever use three of your rods again, which would you choose.
A Daiwa Powermesh Bass Rod, a Diawa Powermesh Carp Rod and a Diawa Porky Pig 11ft Rod.

Best days fishing.
This has to be one of my trips in Guernsey when I caught my best ever Ballan Wrasse. I was really pleased to catch one that weighed 5-9-8 but was over the moon when I beat it with one that weighed 6-14-4 five minutes later.

Worst days fishing.
I can honestly say that I have never had a bad day’s fishing. I have had loads of days with no fish but even they have been enjoyable.

Your Favourite marks?
I like fishing anywhere between Newlyn North Pier and Porthcurno for the mullet but also target other species in this area.

Your least favourite marks?
Porthkerris when there are too many fishing.

Where did you buy your first item of tackle?
John Wings emporium of tackle, at the Quay Shop just off the harbour at Penzance.

Which item of tackle are you most likely to buy next?
I do not think that I need anything at the moment. A new rod or reel when on holiday later in the year will probably tempt me.

What line do you use?
Mainline and trace is mostly Daiwa Sensor but I do try other makes.

What types of angling do you like best.
Light line fishing for any species but mainly float fishing for mullet.

What types do you like least
Boat fishing! Tried it several times but have been very ill. Only had one good trip. Went with Sid Pender off Bell Rock and caught a specimen dab.

Best fish to date
Black Bream 3-15-14
