Anglers fished Cogden Beach "Chesil" from 7pm until Midnight
on Saturday 30th March. 97 anglers booked in for the match which was
pegged into five zones from the wooden post on the cliff top to the
right of the seafront car park, peg 120 to peg 1 almost at West bexington.
The zones were split A 1 - 26(17), B 27 - 54(18),C 55 - 76(17), D 77
- 97(16), E 98 - 120(11). 1 Dab, 271 Dogfish, 1 Small Eyed Ray, 3 Pollack,
135 Pout, 8 Rockling and 1 Silver Eel were recorded at the scales by
79 entrants for a total weight of 416lb 9ozs, 188.339kgms, the fourth
highest return in the 57 match league history.
. DAVE BLACKWELL from Bath won the competiton with a weight of 21lb 2
and a quarter ozs, 9.589kgms. Fishing from peg A5, A 38 year old Chef
who works at The Wife of Bath Restaurant caught 15 Dogfish on fresh
Mackeral. In so doing he won the round 3 ISAC Champions trophy, certificate
and a cash prize of £125,
recording his best ever result in an ISAC league match. Runner-up
in the competition was Welsh International COLIN RICHARDS from
Chepstow. Colin won zone B from peg 28 with a weight of 14lb 9 and
a half ozs,6.619kgms which was represented by 11 Dogfish and 2 pout.
He won the ISAC Silver medal and certificate as well as the zones
top cash prize of £100.
The third placed angler was TONY O`GRADY from Gosport. Tony
recorded his second zone victory in a row after winning zone D from
peg 78 with a weight of 11lb 12 and a half ozs, 5,343kgms. He won
a zone at Avon Beach and finished in fourth place. Tony caught 8 Dogfish
and 7 pout at Cogden to take his first ISAC medal and certificate,
bronze, as well as another £100
cash prize. With 2 points from 2 matches he will be the one to watch
as the season progreses. GLENN SHORT from Ringwood won zone
E from peg 114 to finish fourth in the match with a weight of 11lb
8 and a half ozs, 5.230kgms. In his bag was a NFSA Area D specimen
Small Eyed Ray of 8lb 10ozs,3.912kgms at 307.8%. The Fish is now a
new league record for this species. Glen added 1 Dogfish, 1 Pollack,
and 3 Pout to win zone
