anglers turned out for this ISAC 2003 starting match Saturday 4th January
with fishing times from 9.30am until 2.30pm, Weather conditions were
cold throughout the day with snow flurries greeting entrants as they
booked in. They cleared before the start of the match which was then
fished on bright sunlight with light N/E airs. Flounder were the target
species for the match and they duly obliged in record numbers with 153
caught all along the match venue which was pegged from the Sailing Club
at Netley peg1, up to Rolling Mills jetty peg 120, (Zones:- A pegs 1-24,
31 Flounders, 1 Bass for 30-3-4, 13.699kg, B peg 25-46, 42 Flounders,
1 SSS Scorpion for 40-13-4, 18,518kg, C pegs 47-69, 27 Flounders for
28-8-0, 12,928kg, D pegs 70-99, 21 Flounders for 21-12-4, 9.866kg and
zone E pegs 100-120, 32 Flounders for 34-9-4, 15,686kg). 72 entrants
caught for a total weight of 155lb 14ozs, 70,697kgs, the second highest
Hampshire weight recorded in the league since July 1997. CHRIS EQUEALL
from Cardiff caught the heaviest Flounder of the match, an NFSA Area
E specimen fish of 2lb 5 and 3 quarter ozs, 1,070kg from peg 1 in zone
A, a new league record beating the previous best of 2lb 1oz taken at
the same venue in 1999 by DAVE EDWARDS. 1275 was paid out after the
match in 26 cash awards. |
