The Cornwall Residential

Pupils enjoying a workshop with an Artist at the Hepworth Museum in St. Ives

Each year as part of Curriculum Enhancement Week Mr. Lowe organises a residential based in Penzance, Cornwall. What a great week we usually have.

The trip has an Art and Environment Focus. Visits have included a trip to the National Sealife Centre in Birmingham, The Tate gallery and Hepworth Museum in St. Ives,
The Eden Project at St Austell and the Sennen Surf Centre just north of Land's End.

Travel to and from Cornwall is by Train and we stay in Penzance at the Youth Hostel. Our host
there is Paul, who, along with his assistant Nuala, has made us most welcome since the first
residential in 2002. The food is excellent.

The accommodation is in dormitories of usually four, eight or ten pupils sharing.

Staff from school who have been ivolved have been Mrs. MacKenzie, Mrs. Tyler,
Mr. MacKenzie (no longer at The Crestwood School) and of course Mr. Lowe.

Some of the evening activities have included a cinema trip, a bat conservation talk, a ghost tour of
Penzance and a Circus Skills workshop. Mr. Lowe usually changes some aspects of the trip
each year.
