Year 10 GCSE Short Course - Project Outline Page


For this course you have to write about how a data handling system can solve a problem and you have to make a database.

-To make it easier you will choose one topic to do from 4 options

-You only have two terms to complete the work

- It is IMPORTANT that you are organised and stick to deadlines

- One you have chosen a topic start at section A and work your way through to section H

- There is a total of 40 marks available for coursework

- There is an external examination at the end of the course: 1 hour for foundation candidates and 1 1/2 hours for the higher level candidates.


Your Choice of topics is as follows

1 An Address Book System You could use this system instead of a book to store names and addresses of friends and relatives.
2 A Car Showroom Database This could be used to store information about the cars that are for sale in a garage.
3 A Club Members Database This system would hold information about members in a club and would possibly hold more information in it than an address book.
4 A Database to store details about Recipes
(A collection Database)
A chef might wish to store information about different recipes. This system could be searched in many ways.
