Task: Set up a Webpage for the Showtime Video Rentals...

Setting up web pages can be fun.

In school we use a programme called Microsoft Front Page.

All web pages are made up from a code that can be transferred over a network quickly. A "Browser" programme (like Internet Explorer) takes this code and turns it in to a web page that you can see on your computer screen.

The code is called "Hyper Text Mark-up Language" or HTML for short.

A programme like Front Page writes the code for you so you don't have to bother learning it.

Step by Step Guide to get Started

  1. Load Microsoft Front Page (Start / All Programs / Core Programs) This will give you a blank page.
Click on the "Format" menu and choose "Background"
Change the colour of the page background
Type Showtime Video Rentals at the top of the page
  2. Now Save your work...
  3. When you click on the "save" icon or "save" from the file menu, front page usually wants to save your web page in a folder called "My Websites"... This is fine.
  4. Before we click the save button set up a NEW folder called "Showtime Website"...
  5. It is always best to save web pages in a separate folder.
  6. Then call this first page "index" before you click on the save button...
The home page of any website is called the "index page"

Now go to the next web page instructions to learn what to do next...
