Theatre Topic - Bookings Database

This project looks at how ICT could be used in the context of a Theatre Production.

Task-Your task is to set up a database for a theatre to keep records about ticket sales for a production.

Starting the Tickets Database - Instructions

You have had some practise at setting up databases already in years 8 and 9

You should know data is held on Tables in a database.

When we set up a database the first thing that we create are the Tables to store information.

The bookings database will have 6 Tables.

It is important to set them up in the correct order with NO MISTAKES

This database model will be fine to hold details about one performance. It would have to be more complex to hold details about other performances at different times.

Here is a step by step guide

(Use these instructions along with the Table Plans - They are Red, Orange, Green and White)

Load up the Microsoft Access Database (Start / All Programs / Core Programs / Microsoft Access)

Click on Create Database and then Blank Database from the right hand help menu

Then save the database in your Yr9 ICT folder with an appropriate name like "bookings database"

Set up the tables in this order:

  1. Tickets Table
At this stage set up a query that will search this table for available seats - Sir will show the class how to do this...
  2. Booking Details Table
  3. Method of Payment Table
  4. Bookings Table
  5. Title Table
  6. Customers Table

Click on the links below to see a plan for each of the tables

Tickets Table Booking Details Method of Payment Bookings Table Title Table Customers Table

When you have set up these tables the ticket information can be copied and pasted in to it from a spreadsheet...

Sir will show the class how to do this...

If you need any extension work you can create a form that is linked to the Customers Table and then add some people as customers. You could add your friends or people who you know.
