Synoptic Situation at 0600 09/02/1963         next day

High pressure continues to dominate the Greenland-Scandinavia region and
will extend SE into E Europe.  A low  near Newfoundland will deepen and move
N, intensifying the warm ridge over the W Atlantic.  This will veer the NW
jet on the E side of the ridge and cause the low, 996 mb, just SW of Ireland
to slip away into Biscay.  The Br.Isles will be left in a southerly
airstream.  Another low centre is seen in the central Med., 1012 mb.

Weather over the British Isles:

One trough has now cleared all but the Northern Isles and another is moving
NE and lies from Sligo, through Wexford to Cornwall and Brest.  Fog formed
in many places as the milder air moved over the cold and often still snow
covered ground and light rain fell in the far N and later over Ireland, as
the next trough moved in.  Roches Point recorded 13 mm overnight.
