The B is Bashed!

In August 2003 I was driving home as normal. I was in a queue of traffic so I turned left down a narrow road that led to a short cut. There was a queue of traffic on that narrow road waiting to turn left onto the road I was cutting off. Unfortunately as I turned off someone in that queue got impatient and decided to drive around the queue to turn right. This meant I was faced with a car coming towards me on the wrong side of the road. I hit the brakes, and to the B's credit we avoided a head on. Unfortunately the Mazda MX5 behind was not as quick, and crunched into my back end. The car that was on the wrong side of the road shot off, but someone got their number and the last I heard the police were going to speak to the registered keeper about driving without due care and attention and leaving the scene of an accident.

The impact was at low speed, but there was a fair bit of damage. Once the car got to Entune in Bolton for repairs the work began. Entune have their own website and there are pictures of all the repairs on that site. As tends to happen I took the opportunity to get some extra work done. For example, half the boot floor was fiberglass, so that was replaced, and one wing was done on insurance, but the other also had a lot of filler, and I paid to have this repaired. Between the Mazda driver's insurance and myself over £2500 was spent repairing the backend. This included a new chassis leg, a patch on the other, two new wings, a new boot floor, a new rear valance, a few other minor welding jobs, a new fuel tank, a new rear bumper and a new exhaust. The whole backend was then resprayed. So while it was bad being bashed, the end result is no more rust or filler in the back end! And they completed the work just in time for me to make the excellent Lancashire Lanes run of 2003 (run by Preston and District MG Enthusiasts). I just need some one now to hit my front right wing and drivers door, and it all to be their fault..........
