Who am I?

Well, my name is Iain Cameron. I'm currently 30 years old (born late 1974) and live in Manchester. I was brought up in the North East of Scotland, in a little village called Garmouth, half way between Inverness and Aberdeen. I'm married to Rachel with a young son Daniel, born on the 29th Nov 2004. I'm a chemist by training, but now work in purchasing with a large pharmaceutical company.  Apart from the B my main interests are mainly sporting, with squash and supporting Darlington FC high on that list! This is my first ever effort at a website, so bear with me!

Motoring History

As I have said elsewhere the B is my first classic. My motoring history is something along the lines of:

'B reg' Fiat Uno - my first car, it was already old when I got it. Used to have to stop and clean out the carbs regularly. In retrospect it must have had crud in the fuel tank! I sold it for scrap in 1995 when the head gasket blew for the second time in a year. The first time had cost more than the car was worth to fix, and I wasn't going to do that again!
'C reg' Ford Fiesta - a great little car than I got to travel from Glasgow to Edinburgh for a summer job between university and starting a PhD. Ran very well for the time I had it, and got back almost what it had cost me when I sold it. The flat myself and my new wife were renting had space for one car only, and Rachel had a newer, more powerful Renault 5 ('H reg' 1.4, really quite nippy).
'B reg' Nissan Sunny - While doing my PhD I had had enough of traveling from Abingdon to Oxford everyday by bus, and bought an old Nissan Sunny. Another car that proved very reliable, although I paid too much for it! The brake discs are a funny design, with the wheel bearings in them. Makes for difficult changing! When I acquired my next car it sat in the garage for a year, before finally being sold.
'N reg' Ford Fiesta - My parents upped and left the country, leaving two cars. They were going to sell one and I had a chance to take the other. The choices were an 'L reg' Fiat Tipo 1.9D and an 'N reg' 1.1 Fiesta. I went for the newer lower mileage Fiesta, but wouldn't do that again! This car put the Sunny in the garage for a year, and became our only car when Rachel sold the Renault 5. It was boring but functional for a few years. With a move North to Manchester, my first proper job, and a tendency to use oil, it was time for a change again in 2001.
'V reg'  Ford Focus - a much newer 2.0L Ghia Focus was the replacement. A great car that we still own. I would recommend them as excellent cars to drive, very reliable, and with the 2.0L engine, a fair punch!
'F Reg' Renault 5 - bought as a second car for me to get to work. As always with old cars I bought it with a long MOT, ran it for a few months, and then sold it for almost what I paid. It was a 1.1 engine and when I first compiled this list I forgot to add it in. Enough said!
'51' Renault Clio - with a change of job I got a company car. Rachel started using the Focus and I went for a 1.6 Renault Clio, which was a very nippy little car. Really good provided you didn't sit in the back where there was no leg room at all! The only new car I have ever had.
'F reg' Ford Escort - With another change of job another car was needed and I went back to budget motoring with an old Escort. A fine car, although the speedo never did work! With only a couple of months till it's MOT I decided to sell before I had to give it away and took the plunge and bought a B!
