![]() Sketch of the bridge construction. The bridge is constructed from two lengths of 50mm x 50mm steel angle placed as shown in the cross section sketch above. 25mm square section steel was cut to 5 inch long and welded between so that the steel angles form the rails that the trains run on. Further peices of 25mm square steel were welded to the out side of the angles to support the plank deck. As the angles were too short to span across the pond, I lengthened them by welding more square section steel to the ends. This was positioned so that the aluminium rail could be bolted to them at the correct height. It is my intention to add sides to my bridge to a 'through truss' style. |
