Flower Walk on Molesey Heath, 8 June 2008

This walk, led by David Morgan, turned out to be well supported and the day relatively fine.  Two new flower species were recorded, and several trees and shrubs noted for the first time.

Grass is spreading well over the latest in-fill area at the south-east end of the heath not far from the River Mole, but as yet only a few very common flowers are to be seen there.  On the other hand, it was rewarding to find that two particularly attractive flowers are becoming well-established on the main part of the heath, bee orchids appearing in more than one area, and grass vetchling quite widely.  Bithynian vetch, uncommon in Surrey, was found again in the same location.

Several members of ENHS have provided inputs, which extend beyond flora, to the following lists.
