Moth Night, 6 September 2009

Hosted by Ross Baker and Lynn Whitfield at 4 Locke King Close, Weybridge, this meeting was poorly attended but at least not cancelled, like the earlier moth night in July (owing to bad weather) and the bat walk in August (no takers).  The conditions were not perfect, but with two traps running we hoped for the best.

This time the Robinson trap, by the little pond, attracted most of the catch.  Very few were interested in the actinic trap on the lawn, unlike last year.  In total 16 species and 43+ moths were caught, compared with 15 species and 39 moths on almost the same night last year, when much the same species were caught.
