Surrey Wildlife Trust - a registered charity, working to conserve the countryside and wildlife of the county. http://www.surreywildlifetrust.co.uk/

Spelthorne Natural History Society - indoor meetings are held on the second and occasionally the fourth Wednesday of the month, at Shepperton, between September and May, with speakers.  Outdoor meetings are mainly on Sundays. http://www.snhs.org.uk/

Surrey Bat Group - a group of enthusiasts and experts whose principal aim is to protect the county's bat populations through survey and monitoring work, as well as educating the wider public on bats and their conservation.  The group meets regularly throughout the year, with indoor meetings in the winter and bat walks, batbox checks and detector surveys in summer. http://www.surreybats.org.uk/

Surrey Botanical Society - we hold regular Field Meetings in the growing season, which are very enjoyable.  All are welcome, and no previous experience is demanded.  There is a strong supportive, educational and social element to these meetings, and our more knowledgeable members are always ready to help those in need.  http://www.surreyflora.org.uk

West Surrey Badger Group - a group formed to watch over the local badger population.  Activities include sett surveying and monitoring, giving advice on planning and development, attending local events, and giving educational talks. http://badger-groups.org.uk/west-surrey/

Surrey Amphibian and Reptile Group (SARG) - a group of expert enthusiasts who advise on habitat and conservation matters concerning toads, frogs, newts, snakes and lizards.  Email: http://www.surrey-arg.org.uk/SARG/SARG.asp

North West Surrey Royal Society for the Protection of Birds - the local (Chertsey-based) branch of the RSPB, the UK charity working to secure a healthy environment rich in birds and wildlife, helping to create a better world for us all. www.nwsurreyrspb.org.uk

The Elmbridge Commons - the five common areas that comprise the Elmbridge Commons offer the public excellent recreational facilities: horse-riding, birdwatching, jogging, dog walking and other outdoor activities. http://www.elmbridge.gov.uk/leisure/countryside/default.htm

Haslemere Natural History Society - Haslemere Natural History Society provides a focus for enthusiastic naturalists of all ages.  The Society helps local people see and learn about the area's heritage by organising Field Trips and Indoor Meetings led by friendly specialists. http://www.haslemerenaturalhistorysociety

Surrey Botanical Society - the primary botanical recording organisation for Surrey (vice-county 17).  It provides a county recorder to the Botanical Society of the British Isles and is consulted by other conservation organisations, such as the Surrey Wildlife Trust.  Site address - see above.
