The league commences the year with the Thompson
Shield. This is the competition for the Captain's and Vice Captain's of the sixteen
clubs which make up the league.
The competition was played at the Whitley Bay Golf Club on Sunday 19th April 2009
- Winners were Northumberland Golf Club - David Row & Mike Barlow 70 + 1.6 = 71.6
- Second were Blyth Golf Club Keith Miller & Martin Johnson 79 - 5.6 = 73.4
- Third were Newcastle United Golf Club Steve Hutchins & Tom Elliott 86 - 10.6 + 75.4
· Best Gross Prudhoe Golf Club David Gilroy & Malcolm Ward 72
As Northumberland won the event, they will host the event at Northumberland Golf Club on Sunday TBA.
The
first league matches of the new season will start on Thursday 30th April 2009.
