The league commences the year with the Thompson
Shield. This is the competition for the Captain's and Vice Captain's of the sixteen
clubs which make up the league.
The competition was played at the Blyth Golf Club on Sunday 20th April 2008
- Winners were Whitley Bay Golf Club - George Mulvey & Alan Morris 88-15.2 = 72.8
- Second were Newcastle United - Peter Jobe & Steve Hutchins 80-5.8 = 74.2
- Third were Blyth - Michael Culley & Keith Miller 79-4.6 = 74.4
· Best Gross Northumberland - Mike Barlow & Mike Brett 78
As Whitley Bay won the event, they will host the event at Whitley Bay Golf Club on Sunday 19th April 2009.
The
first league matches of the new season will start on Thursday 1st May 2008.
