“Tinally” was fitted with a 1600cc petrol Watermota which had been serviced before delivery (!! ) I checked the oil.....no dipstick !! The boatyard owner was not impressed with this arrangement and next time I visited there was a dipstick !! The colour of the oil left us in no doubt that servicing had not been carried out so I embarked on a full service and a steep learning curve. I didn’t realise you needed a degree in engineering to own a boat !! Belts, filters, plugs were changed and a sump pump fitted for easy oil extraction in the future. After an uneventful launch I started the motor and pottered gently down the river to my mooring. Drifting ever so gently into place, I made her fast and set about rigging shore power, filling the fresh water tank and all the other domestic tasks that await the new owner at the beginning of his first season. The log book was dutifully written up with details of the days events and, having decided to turn it into something of a photo journal, a few digital pictures were printed to illustrate the days events.
