| Club ProfileFive members of Elswick Harriers who
lived in around Chester-le-Street, Co The club currently has approximately
200-300 members of all ages and abilities. We meet each Tuesday and Thursday
between 6:00pm and 7:00pm at the track alongside the Riverside Pavilion, Our aim is to provide the opportunity for members of
all ages, abilities and capabilities to participate in the sport of athletics
and to
fulfil
their potential in competition at local, regional or national level. We welcome
all members of the community as long as they are committed to improving their
own personal fitness and athletic ability. Our highly qualified coaches and
staff provide our members with a pathway to their own personal success whether
measured in simple personal fitness terms, local and area competition or in
competition for the sport’s highest honours. The club is actively involved in the
promotion of athletics with local schools and young peoples’ associations
where the aim is to include children and youths of all abilities. We have a thriving section for
athletes with a disability and all additions to this section are warmly
welcomed. Please see the training pages for
the specific training programmes for all sections. We compete in most arenas of track,
road and cross country with teams and individuals entered into events of one
kind or another virtually every weekend from local to national and occasionally
to international level. Current membership fees for 2007 are
