 Middle and long distance groups

Chester-le-Street have 2 organised coached session days for Senior Middle and Long distance runners:-

Tuesday nights are track sessions at the Chester-le-Street Track several groups are arranged according to aims/ability. Barry  Forster and Lindsay Dunn sort out sessions on the night according to who turns up and weather conditions. Sessions are aimed at the persons goal pace taking into account current fitness  and are hard but not all out efforts. Runners form other clubs come along also and are welcome.  Warm up starts from the Track at 6-30  pm.

Saturday sessions in Winter – September to April - are at Watergate Park in Gateshead at Lobley Hill.  We meet at the car park next to Emmanuel College at 9-30.There are often 25 –30 runners and sessions are varied with several different circuits being available.

During the Summer months with training being more track orientated we change venues from week to week .

Lobley Hill is still used but we may also use Maiden Castle , Durham or Chester-le-Street playing fields, sometimes using both  the track and the playing fields in one session.  Sessions are again sorted by Barry and Lindsay.

In addition to the above there are road running groups that go out on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7:00pm prompt. Both evenings cater for mixed ability and are of road fartlek type sessions where re-grouping takes place as regularly as necessary. Tuesday evening is approx 8-10 miles and Thursday is mostly slightly less. These sessions are of benefit to not only faster runners who want a steadier run or who are coming back from injury but also to slower runners who want a good paced run. If there are insufficient runners to form more than one group a mixed fartlek session takes place when no one is left behind.

Members also go out in various groups on Sunday mornings for a longer run at a variety of paces.

If you are interested in joining any of these groups please e-mail the secretary@chesterlestreetac.co.uk
