TASSEL - PENBURY MAGIC TASSELS AT TASSIETAY

Slate and white  bitch - born 4 December 1990  - Died 20 December 2004

by: Champion Potterdale Conclusion     ex: Ramsgrove Winter Magic at Penbury

Breeder : Barbara,  Bob and Sarah Potter

My daughter Manda carried on the obedience tradition when she purchased Penbury Magic Tassels at Tassietay Tassel in l991. She proved to be a really keen worker and amongst her many wins she has also won the pre-beginners and beginners classes at the S.C.B.C.C. open show in 1994 as well as taking the trophy for 'most promising dog and handler' - repeating what I had achieved 17 years earlier. Tassel has won 'novice' and 'A' at later S.C.B.C.C. shows and has her 'Senior Working Test'. She also holds a 'Herding Instinct Certificate' and took 1st place in the first pentathlon organised by the S.C.B.C.C. Unfortunately Manda never had the time to compete at Open level, but was urged to on many occasions.  Has passed her Kennel Club Bronze Good Citizens Dog Test.  She gained the Silver test in August 2004 and her Gold in December 2004.

Tassel also did extremely well in the show ring at Open level including winning two firsts at the S.C.B.C.C. show in 1994 - at which show she won everything she had been entered for (2 breed + 2 obedience); as shown in the photo above.

In the December following the show, she was mated to Champion and AM & CAN Ch Samara Standing Ovation, producing a lovely litter the following February, from which we kept one puppy - Tassietay True Magic (Truly).

Tassel also had a go at agility, and was part of the S.C.B.C.C. agility team at Watford in 1992.

Manda has taught Tassel many tricks - she does counting, simple sums and will pick anything up - very useful if you drop your keys!

At 13½ years old she came out of retirement and won the speed retrieve at the Elham Dog Club and Folkestone and District combined companion dog show in July 2004. She also entered the Veteran Obedience class where she came second.  (Taya came 3rd and Truly came 4th.)  On 20th December 2004 she collapsed at home and was diagnosed as having a massive tumour on her spleen & Kidney, which had ruptured - she had to be put to sleep. Her ashes now take pride of place in our home.  Pictures of her Gold Good Citizens and last Elham Dog Club, at which she was the oldest and longest serving member, Birthday party will be added soon.
