Brown Hairstreak in Worcestershire - Bulletin 7

April 2005

Dear All,

Just a quick reminder of Grafton Wood Open Day from 11 am onwards on Sunday (24th April). We shall have our brand new Brown Hairstreak display boards for the first time in the Three Parishes Hall and will be looking to sign up more local Hairstreak Champions. There will be guided walks all day from the Parish Hall and refreshments in the Hall itself including lunches so do come along. Brown Hairstreak caterpillars are already on the march and for those keen to find one we shall be having a special Caterpillar Crawl starting at 2 pm. Just as a little preview, I am attaching a shot of a newly hatched caterpillar photographed in Oxfordshire last week (with thanks to David Redhead) so we all know what to look for (with apologies to those people not on broadband!). We have marked up a number of eggs in three different parts of the wood so do join in in helping to hunt down a caterpillar. Special prize for the first person to spot one.

Regards,

Mike
