Continuous records have been kept since 1989, but from the limited recording carried out in the 1980's we know that Wood White and Small Pearl Bordered used to be seen here. 27 species have been recorded since 1990, including White Admiral and the Essex Skipper which have been seen annually since 1992 and 1998 respectively. In 2003 Silver-washed Fritillary and Marbled White were seen for the first time at this site.
A lack of maintenance led to an abundance of the Speckled Wood, but this is no longer the case and large numbers of Meadow Brown, Ringlet, Gatekeeper, Large and Small Skipper can be seen in most years. Common Blue and Small Copper can be found in small numbers, along with the Holly Blue, currently in the downward part of its cycle.
Both Purple and White Letter Hairstreak are present, but rarely seen, as they spend much of their time in the canopy. Migrants such as the Red Admiral are seen in most years, along with the occasional visit from Painted Lady and Clouded Yellow.
