Possible Camberwell Beauty Sighting

Reported to Neil Gregory...

Gatley Wood (Forestry Commission) near Wigmore.  OS 433686 April 4th 2003, sunny, 19Deg C, 1400. During a walk counting butterflies, I had counted 10 Peacocks and 2 Brimstones when I noticed a butterfly different from anything I had seen before.  It was larger than a Peacock and I saw a cream frilly edge to the wings.  It landed on the path in front of me, but when I tried to get closer it flew off twice and then high into the air where I lost sight of it.  There were willow trees between the path and open fields to the left.   Beryl.
