NOTICEBOARD

The closing date for entries for this year's show has been extended to 27th August 2011 (Teesside Show)

This will be our last September show for the foreseeable future. Northern Counties Cat Club has decided to join with Durham County Cat Club to hold shared shows, commencing in May 2013, and we have applied for a licence for 25th May 2013. This means we will be sharing the venue etc. but running two separate shows, allowing cats to compete for separate certificates from each club. It is anticipated that the new show will be held at our South Shields venue. Hopefully this will help both the clubs and the exhibitors financially. We are unable to start this next May due to the GCCF rule which only allows one show during each show year (which runs from 1st June - 31st May), so Northern Counties Cat Club will not be holding a show during 2012. Please give us your support for our show this year, and keep an eye on our website for further news.

SHOW NEWS

With effect from 1st June 2011 there will be the following changes to the Certificate classes for Pedigree Cats and Household Pets at Championship Shows, as published by the GCCF:

A CAT CAN ENTER ONLY ONE CERTIFICATE CLASS.

EXHIBITORS SHOULD CHECK CAREFULLY WHICH CLASS THEIR CAT IS ELIGIBLE FOR:

PEDIGREE CATS:

BREED CLASSES: Open to all UNTITLED Cats/Neuters of the specified breed (must be GCCF Registered). Challenge or Premier Certificates will be awarded to the winners.

CHAMPION / PREMIER CLASSES: A cat with the title of Champion/Premier must enter in this class and compete for a Grand Certificate.

GRAND CHAMPION/PREMIER CLASSES: Cats with a Grand title must enter this class and compete for an Imperial Certificate.

OLYMPIAN CHAMPION/PREMIER CLASSES: Cats with an Imperial title must enter this class and compete for an Olympian Certificate*

* The title of Olympian Imperial Grand Champion/Premier will be granted to a cat winning five Olympian Imperial Grand certificates at five shows under five different judges. Only one prize with a Reserve in case of disqualification will be awarded. Awards will be given of Bronze/Silver/Gold, requiring five certificates to progress to each level.

This class will only be available at All Breed Shows. All breeds from all sections will compete against each other for one male and female certificate in the Entire and Neuter categories. It will be judged by judges who are full Judges in (not across) 3 sections and eligible to judge at least 2 Imperial Classes in different sections.

ASSESSMENT CLASSES

From 1st June 2011, Assessment Classes are competitive. The cats will be judged and awarded a Merit Certificate if worthy (as previously), and will also be placed against each other. The first prize winner will be eligible for consideration for Best in Show.

HOUSEHOLD PETS

COLOUR GROUP CLASSES: These are open to all untitled neuters over nine months. Master Cat Certificates will be awarded to the winners. Titled cats may also be considered with the winners of these classes for Best of Colour/Best of Breed.

MASTER CAT CLASSES: A cat with the title "Master Cat" should enter this class and compete for a Grand Master Cat certificate OR they could be entered for Best of Colour/Best of Breed only, but not in competition in the above class.

GRAND MASTER CAT CLASSES: Cats with a Grand Master Cat title must enter this class and compete for an Imperial Grand Master Cat certificate OR they could be entered for Best of Colour/Best of Breed only, but not in competition in the above classes.

The above classes are for NON-PEDIGREE PETS and also PEDIGREE PETS in two separate sections and will be split Shorthair and Long/Semi-Longhair as before.

GREEN RIBBON CLASSES: These will be combined for both Non-Pedigree and Pedigree Pets and are for Any Colour and Any Coat Length. They will be split male and female. Imperial Grand Master Cats in either Pet Section may enter this class. The award is a Green Ribbon Imperial Certificate and a Reserve. The cats may also be considered for Best of Breed/Best of Colour in the appropriate class.

It has now been agreed that the Green Ribbon classes will be called OLYMPIAN CLASSES, in line with the classes for the Pedigree Cats.

  • Missing Trophies. Do you have a Northern Counties Cat Club Trophy that should have been returned? Many trophies are still well overdue. Please check your cabinets, drawers and attics to see if you still have our cups - they should all have stickers on the base saying NCCC and showing the trophy number. They can be handed over to any Northern Counties Committee member or mailed to Anne Al-Jumaili at 7 Valeside, Throckley, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE15 9LA.
  • Please help us get these trophies back. Members are always disappointed when they are unable to take home cups awarded at the show because they are not available.
