Abernethy
Scottish Country Dance Club

- A friendly club, we meet to learn &
enjoy Scottish Country Dancing.
- Our club meets in Nethy Bridge Community Centre, Dell Road.
- Classes are held each year from September, on Monday evenings between 7.30 and 9.30 pm.
- In 2012, our spring term runs from Monday 9th January through to
26th March.
- Current fees are £25 for a term of about 14 weeks, or £3 per evening for occasional membership.
- Experienced Scottish Country Dancers are
welcome to join us.
- Absolute beginners should ensure that they
start with us in September, (or no later than mid-October) because that is when we
re-start our planned teaching programme for the year
ahead.
- You do not need to bring a partner in order to take part.
Throughout the evening a succession of class members will be happy to
dance with you.
- Our dance teacher Margaret Hill takes us through the dances each Monday
evening.
- In recent years our usual teachers were previously Callum and Hilary Scott and, from
time to time, Greta Lamb and Pat & Peter Clark.
- Abernethy Scottish Country Dance Club
started in the 1980s.
- Before Callum & Hilary taught our club, it was
organised for many years by June Scott.
- It is affiliated to the Inverness &
District Branch of RSCDS.
- We regularly attract over 30 participants
each Monday evening.

We usually hold two dance parties per year and,
from time to time, members of our class go to the dances and
rallies organised by other clubs. Some of us help out at Ceilidhs
and Scots Nights held in Nethy Bridge.
