 | About ten miles from Newbury on the Lambourn valley road. A large and usually busy village pub, that serves good food and beer. |
Leave the Swan and go over the river towards Wantage. Look
out for a FP sign on the L, and take the FP that runs behind the houses parallel to the Wantage road for
nearly a mile, until it reaches a farm track. Turn L on this, and follow the FP that bears slightly L
towards the lowest point of the skyline. This crosses one track, and after a mile meets a second. Turn L
downhill, go through Maidencourt Farm, and just before meeting the River Lambourn, take the Lambourn Valley
Way, that brings you back to Great Shefford and the pub.
