The party will commence at 3. 0pm followed by a film show at 4.0’clock given by Brooke Bond Ltd. They will also give the children balloons and badges. Mr D Williams will purchase sweets for the children. Mrs L Saunders will arrange food and the ladies will meet at 1.30pm. Posters announcing the party will be put up in the village and an announcement will be made at the school.
Mr D Williams requested permission to put forward a tender of 5/- to the Post Office for a large postman’s basket.
Mr F Banfield reported that he had rung the Chris Banks agency and was offered an apology for any misunderstanding but the agency should have quoted £35 and not £30 and that the artists are paid on the night of the performance.

The audit has been completed and a vote of thanks was proposed by Mr D Williams and Second by Mrs L Saunders to Mrs F Banfield and Mrs B Samuel.
CWMBRAN CARNIVAL.
Mr M Robbins has been attending the Cwmbran meetings instead of Mr F Banfield and he is now making arrangements for a team to enter the competition.
COMMUNITY COUNCIL.
Mr D Williams will require the deeds of the Hall to establish whether we are registered as a charitable organisation.
Mr Williams is also dealing with a claim sent by the Performing Rights for £4-13-0d.
HALL
A grant of 50% can be obtained for the Hall for the roof, windows, doors etc. when we have obtained planning permission. Mr D Williams can arrange for a film (by Banbury Builders) to be shown to the committee with no obligation on the building of a new Hall. It was agreed by the committee to see the film and that the work at present going on at the Hall to cease for one month.
CARNIVAL QUEEN.
Judges for the choosing of the Queen and attendants as follows: - 1. Henllys Carnival Queen 1968,
2. Mr and Mrs A Jones, Mrs Lionel Jones, an engineer, Mrs F Banfield to arrange. If any of the above are unable to attend Mr and Mrs Owen, Oakdale will be asked.
On the evening of the competition Mr A Davies will act as compere, Mrs G Bibby and Mrs A Saunders will take the names at the door. Entrance fee for the competition will be 2/6d payable at the door, 6d for spectators. Adverts are to be put in the Advertiser and the Argus and also a request made for the Argus photographer.
LADIES ENTERTAINERS.
Some of the ladies of the village are meeting each Tuesday evening to form themselves into the ‘Village Hall Entertainers’. Mrs A Davies (Chairman) attended the governing committee meeting for its approval. Any money the ladies make, they have already held a very successful jumble sale, will be for the benefit of the Hall in providing curtains, stage lights etc. they were given the committee’s approval and assured that they are covered for insurance, musical rights etc. Mrs Davies and her ladies are also welcomed to attend any other meeting of the Hall’s committee.
OTHER BUSINESS.
A ‘get – well’ card has been sent to J Harris who is in hospital at Bath.
An application from Fairwater for a loan of stalls has been received. The FLASHING LIGHTS stall will be lent to them. Henllys W.I. for May is to be held one week later than usual. Date approved.
