THE HALL MINUTE BOOK.
I have already printed the minute of the first
Village Hall meeting and to quote a phrase (copyright of 'MASTERMIND') 'Now
that I've started I will continue' to enter as many as I can so that I will
able to record the names of all the people who joined and retired from the
committee and also the names of the people who gave assistance over the years.
AGM held at the Hall 7th December1966.

26 people attended and Arthur Samuel proposed
that everyone should be a member of the General Committee.
It was decided to introduce a subscription for
membership.One shilling a year but members could subscribe more if they so
desired.
At this meeting young people of the Village
were invited to form a 'Young People's Committee'.
Ladies to organize themselves into 'Catering
Committee' and men present would organize themselves into 'Working,Repair
Committee'.A Bingo committee was also elected :- Bill Lloyd, GeorgeBibby,
Fred Banfield, Arthur Samuel,Aubrey
Davies,John Harris,and Myself.
It was agreed that the monthly meeting of the
General hall Committee should meet on the first Wednesday of every month.
The secretary was asked to write to Clerk of
Magor and St Mellons Council to
1, Enquire about grant.
2, To request a reduction in Rates.
4th January 1967.
18 people attended. It was proposed by Fred
Banfield and Second by Eric Higgs that a dinner be held on March 1st 1967.
Guest for dinner to be Mr & Mrs D C V Gwynn, and Mr & Mrs D L
Jones,Secretary of Community Service.
Cost of dinner 10/6.Maximum 120 tickets to be
allocated.
Fred Banfield suggested a Fete to be held 24th
June. Proposed by him and Sec by D Williams to hold a special Fete meeting. Mr
Dave Williams explained that the Tote is to be transferred and would be called
'The Henllys Village Hall & Welfare Fund'.The money to be for the benefit
of the Hall and for the children of Henllys.The Tote to be drawn alternately at
the Dorallt and the Castell y Bwch. The Hall to be available for the younger
children every Saturday afternoon.Whilst the teenage group meet every Friday
evening.

20 people attended. Cllr Oliver James and
wife,the Vicar and his wife to be offical guest ( I believe for the Dinner).
Prop by A Samuel and Sec by Mrs Higgs that the Tote be drawn every Monday
evening at the Hall. It was carried that Bill Lloyd be I/C Entertainments and
Dances. The MC for the evening of 1st March to be Ithel Salter.
11 January 1967 FETE (This is book No 2) Our
first Fete meeting.
Prop by F Banfield that Aubrey Davies be
Secretary and Mrs J Lewis to be Asst Secretary.
Treasurer to be Mrs R Lloyd. The money raised
by the Fete is to be used for the Old Aged Pensioners and Children of the
Parish. After general discussion it was agreed that:-
1 That the date of the Fete be 24th June
2. To commence at 2.0pm
3 There to be a Fancy Dress Dance in the
evening.
4. There to be a Fancy Dress Competition
for the children at the Sports.
5. Hot Dogs Stall.
6. An invitation goes to the Young Farmers
Club.
7. An invitation goes to the W.I.
8. Kicking a football
9. Darts
10. Rolling a penny.

12. Children's Sports

advertised,too, in the Church Magazine.
