The remainder of the money came from-- Bank Loans-Hire of Hall--Fetes--Bazaars--Dances and many more events organised by the dedicated members of the Village Hall Committee.

After the completion of the building of the Hall we had to borrow tables and chairs from Torfaen Borough Council which was very inconvenient because everytime they had a function held in one of their Halls the furniture was taken away.

The heating was also borrowed to start with. Villagers would bring their own portable heaters.

With a Bank Loan, we purchased our own furniture and had a heating system installed

* When the old Hall was demolished the Electric power was cut off and on the completion of the new Hall the South Wales Electricity Board wanted us to pay £289.00 for reconnection. Of course we did not have this money available and we were desperate to have the new Hall opened so that we could get money in with the hire. The person I dealt with at SWEB would not give way when I asked if he would reduce the cost. His argument was that although there was a building there previously the new Hall was classed as a new building and it would need its own transformer. We complained to our M.P. Mr Stradling Thomas who got in touch with SWEB and hey presto! For £55 the light was back on.
I remember when Mr Thomas visited us accompanied with his agent and as he came through the door the light came on and he said " the MP walks in and the lights come on"
