Minutes of meeting held at the Hall on August 1st 1967.

Present. Chairman Mr F W Richards Mrs Lloyd, Mrs Shaw, Mrs L Saunders, Mrs L Lewis, Mr H Burton, Mr J Harris, Mr J Evans, Mr F Banfield, and Mr D Williams.
An apology for absence from Mr R Griffiths. No other apologies were received.
A lengthy discussion was held on the proposed dance to be held on August Monday. It was decided that as Mr W Lloyd was not present and of the uncertainty of getting a band it was felt that a bar should not be applied for.
It was proposed by Mrs Phil Saunders and Second by Mr H Burton that a Poultry Drive should be held in aid of the Hall and that a date should be decided at the next meeting.
It was decided that an all ticket Dinner & Dance should be held on the 15th September 1967 from 8.00pm to 1.0am.It was also decided that the ticket would be 10/6.
Mr Burton stated that he had held over any further dealings about the third party insurance for the school field, as there appeared to be a miss-understanding about equipment and grant.
The proposed grant of £40 from the Education Committee was discussed in some length. It appeared that all we could expect was about £18 and so it was decided that Mr D Williams would try to get something in writing from the authority and report back at the next meeting.
A rota system for the school field was discussed. Volunteers were asked for, but this was held over until the next meeting.
Mr Banfield reported that Mrs Stephens had asked again that something be done for the O.A.P. and Widows of the parish. After much discussion it was proposed by Mr H Burton and Second by Mr J Harris that dinner followed by some entertainment should be arranged for the Henllys O.A.P. & Widows. This was agreed and it was decided that Mr D Williams would arrange the entertainment, also that Mr D Williams would send around an invitation and questionnaire to find out how many would be able to go also those that needed transport. It was also decided that a basket of fruit would be sent to the infirmed who would not be able to attend. The date was fixed for the 11th October 1967 at 7.00pm.
A donation of 1gn was suggested by Mrs Shaw to be sent to the Malpas Gymnastic Club in recognition of their display at the Village Hall Fete. Mr J Harris suggested 2gns and after discussion it was put to the vote and was decided to send 2gns. The secretary was asked to write thanking the Club for their display and to send them a cheque for 2gns.
Mr F Banfield stated that he would have to resign as Tote Treasurer at the end of October, but he would be pleased to carry on selling the tickets.
It was proposed by Mr Dave Williams and second by Mr F Banfield that members that failed to attend 3 monthly meetings should be approached and asked if they intend taking any further interest in the Village Hall activities

First to be discussed at this meeting was the O.A.P.dinner. Mr D Williams has sent out the invitations and is awaiting replies.
Mr D Williams stated that he had not yet found out about grant for equipment for the Youth Club.

Permission has been given for the school field to be used by the youth, but has been left until next summer.

Sec by Mrs Bibby. That a bonfire and barbecue be held on the 4th November 1967.Parents will be asked to bring their fireworks. Permission will be asked to use the field opposite the hall, also posters will have to be put out.
It was decided not to hold the dance on the 16th September 1967, but to hold a dance nearer Christmas.

Minutes of a Special meeting called on the 27th September1967.
Members present Chairman Mr F W Richards, Mrs Bibby, Mrs Saunders, Mrs R Lloyd, Mrs N Lloyd, Mrs J Lewis, Mr F Banfield, and Mr B Griffiths.
The meeting was called to find a new Tote Treasurer, but as Mr J Harris was not present, it was decided by the committee to leave this until the next meeting.
Other business to be discussed was the Christmas draw tickets. The heading would be as follows. Henllys Village Hall Grand Christmas draw.
Draw takes place on Thurs. the 16th November 1967 at the Village Hall.
1st Whisky 2nd Sherry 3rd Port 4th Basket of Fruit. 5th Cigarettes. 6th Chocolates
Prize for the Poultry Drive are as follows.
Turkey given by Mr F Richards

Tin Biscuits do Mrs N Lloyd
Pork do Mr J Evans.
Also required were admission tickets for the Poultry Drive.They would be as follows;

It was decided to order posters headed Henllys Village Hall 15x20.
All the tickets have been ordered and are promised by next weekend.
Mr A Samuel suggested that Mr B Smith would be the MC for the Poultry Drive.

Apologies were received from Mr D Williams, Mr H Burton, and Mr F Richards.
Mr J Harris took the chair.
The meeting opened with a discussion on what to give to the infirmed who couldn't attend the O.A.P. dinner. There are two men Mr T Court and Mr J Saunders.
They would receive 50 cigarettes each, and the four women who are Miss A L Marsh, Miss L G Marsh, Mrs J Saunders, and Mrs Short. They would have a box of chocolates to the value of 10/-.
It was decided not to hold the bonfire & barbecue of the 4th November.

First to be discussed was the O.A.P.There were two more names to be added to the list of people who could not attend, as they were ill. They are Mrs Marsh and Mrs Roderick.
It was agreed by the committee that Mr Banfield would order the 6 boxes of chocolates and 100 cigarettes from Mr W Lloyd for the people who were infirmed.
General expense for the dinner.
£5.9.00d for groceries and £1 for flowers. This does not include what people have donated.

It was decided by the committee that over Xmas Bingo would be held on Saturday 23rd December1967 instead of Xmas Night
