Meeting held at the Hall 4th April 1968.

Sec by Mrs L Saunders. That the Fete would be held on the 29th June 1968 and the Fancy Dress dance.

D Williams to book the band 'Pandores Box'

Stalls and races would be the same as last year.

Prizes would have to be decided on also who would provide the sack, ropes, tyres, and canvas.

Age groups would also be the same as last year.

It was suggested by Mrs R Lloyd to approach the Youth Club to help some stalls.

Also to be approached are the Y.F.A. and the W. I.

Next Fete meeting 24th April.

Money made at the Fete will have to be handed in to Mr A Samuel Treasurer.

Next to be discussed were the sacks which Mr F Richards has. Ropes would be provided by J Harris and F Banfield, & D Williams will see about the bicycle tyres.

Stakes Mr Williams has 12.

Meeting 8th May 1968

A new date was decided to hold the Fete. It is the 27th July 1968

W Lloyd suggested that we have a Tug O War competition. It was put to the committee and it was decided that we hold this comp at the Fete. The following firms have to contacted -- Saunders Valve, Girlings, I.C.I. , G.K.N, Catholic Club, Mr A Jones Maes y Rhiw,Whiteheads, Weston, Jeff Whitson.

The following advertisement for the Fete will be put in The Argus and The Advertiser.

There will also be a Fancy Dress for children.

The stall and the volunteers who have to look after them are in the minutes of the last meeting.

The other people that have to be contacted by letter to help with the Fete are as follows: - Y.F.C, WI,

Woolworths, Corona Walls.

PROGRAMME.

Competitors for the Fancy Dress will assemble at 1.15pm and will proceed from the starting point at 1.30pm led by the Carnival Queen and band. Leave 1.30pm make field by 2.0pm.

2.0pm opening the Fete ( 10 mins ). Judging fancy dress ( 30 mins ). Tug o War will assemble 3.0pm. A greasy pole.

 

Meeting at the Hall 23rd May 1968.

In the absence of Mrs. J Lewis the minutes were taken by D Williams.

Meeting was opened with a decision to have a Carnival Queen for the Fete day which was passed in favour of. Day of the judging to be Wednesday 26th June at 7.0pm. Mr Williams to write to the managers of David Evans, Girlings, Woolworths to request their attendance to judge the Queen and court ladies, also Mr Banfield to see Mr J Gould. It was decided after much discussion to have the prizes as follows: - £5 for the Queen and £2 each for the court ladies. Four to be elected. It was also decided that due to the expense that the material is bought and the Sewing Guild be approached to make the dresses for the Queen and the ladies.

It was also decided that Mr Williams should write to the Rogerstone Band to lead the Carnival from Belle View to the field, and also if the Mon Farmers would lend one of their lorries for the occasion.

It was decided that every member, that was able, would come down to the Hall on Sunday afternoon 2nd June to prepare the stalls. Full support anticipated.

Mr H Burton to be approached about a licence for the field, and also for the Hall. If the reply was negative, the brewery to be approached for any assistance they can give.

Notices were to be put up in the Castell y Bwch and the Dorallt for volunteers to form a Tug O War team and Mr Hurley mentioned that they could practice with St. Joseph's team.

Mr W Lloyd decided that a barrel of beer would be bought for the Tug O War competition.

The meeting closed at 9.40pm.
