The Hall Account Book.

Arthur Samuel was the Treasurer when we took over the Hall in 1966 but unfortunately he died in December 1968.

It happened on Boxing Day. We were holding a Tug of War and other events, in the field which belonged to Bob Griffiths next to the Castell y Bwch Inn, and Arthur was taking the entrance money at the gate. I took over the task from him so that he could go for lunch but it was not long after that his son Howerd came over and told us that his dad had collapsed at home.

I immediately took over the Treasurer post and continued until I retired in 1990.

There are obviously many entries in the book over the years but I will try and write down what I hope will be of interest to the reader.

First there were the cleaners and we started off with Auntie Lil (Mrs L Saunders ) she was the cleaner from 1967 until 1981.She was paid 10/- (50p) a week and 7/6d (371/2p) extra for cleaning after every event held at the Hall. In 1975 we increased the payment to £1 a week and 10/- ( 50p ) for every events.

Second was Mrs M Prosser from December 1981until 1983.

Third were Mrs A Saunders & Mrs G Bibby from May 1983 until June 1888. The payment was then increased to £2 and £1.

Fourth were Mrs J Morgan & Mrs J Samuel June 1988 until ?.

When there was a death in the village the Hall would send a wreath or a donation to the bereaved family and below are the names of those who died from 1967 until 1987. We had to stop after this because the size of the village increased.

From November 1966 until March 1990 our total income was £37319, and the expense was £36226. The last entry in the account book dated March 1990 showed a profit of £1093.
