Doreen Louie West self-published her first book: “Louie: A
Country Lady” in 1997 at the age of 78. She wrote about the life of her
mother, Louie, to record her memories for her family, but to her surprise it
became a bestseller. The success of this book has completely changed her life
and brought her much happiness.
Readers became so interested in “Louie” that Doreen was persuaded
to write a sequel: “Louie: An Oxford Lady”.
In 2001 she was selected as a finalist for the Oxfordshire Woman
of the Year.
Doreen has lived with her family in Oxfordshire and
Buckinghamshire for most of her life, she has a son and daughter and two
grandchildren. Now a widow, she lives with her daughter and leads a very
active life promoting her books and tending their large garden.
After living in Buckinghamshire for over forty years they have
recently moved to Carmarthenshire where Doreen is enjoying her new peaceful
lifestyle and the beautiful Welsh countryside.
