I can find no details of the number of bikes produced or precise manufacturing dates. Incidentally none of the Junior’s or Ranger’s I have seen have a frame number. This was common practise in the bicycle industry at the time. The NVT Ranger was produced first. Once the dispute over the use of the BSA name was resolved around 1979, they were re-launched as the BSA Junior. The JTX followed later. |

The information on this site has been obtained from various sources. If it is inaccurate or you can add to it please email me with details. The BSA Junior and NVT Ranger were produced from the late 1970’s to the mid 1980’s and were aimed at the burgeoning youth motocross market. The design followed the principles of the Easy Rider models with the fuel in frame cell forming the backbone of the bike with the engine slung underneath. The engine differed from the Easy Rider models in that it incorporated a kick start, but retained the automatic clutch and single speed. A large rear wheel sprocket (44T) geared the bike down to more useable speed/r.p.m. for motocross. My understanding is that these bikes were designed in the U.K. by Bob Trigg with assistance from Rob Homer. The frames were UK built. Engines and cycle parts were sourced in Italy – final assembly carried out in the U.K. at sites in Coventry (Falkland Lane) and Bannerley Road Garretts Green, Birmingham. Assembly later switched to a site at Northwick Business Park, Blockley Gloucestershire adjacent to the Watsonian Squire factory.
