Child Benefit

Child benefit is a non-means-tested, non-contributory benefit paid to a person who is responsible for a child.

Benefit is paid for each child under 16 and for young people aged 16 to 18 if they are in full-time non-advanced education.

A higher amount of benefit is paid for the oldest eligible child.

You are entitled to child benefit if you:-

......are responsible for a child.

( This may be because the child lives with you, or because you contributes to the maintenance of the child)

and

......if you have priority over any other claimant

and

......you and the child satisfy residence conditions

and

...... you are not subject to immigtration control

and

......you makes a valid claim If you do not receive a claim pack whilst in hospital you can obtain a claim pack from your local benefit office, tax enquiry centre or download from the website www.hmrc.gov.uk
