Statutory Adoption Pay

To be entitled to Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP), an employee must:
meet the requirements for eligibility to statutory adoption leave;

and

have earnings of at least the lower earnings limit.

declare that s/he is not also claiming statutory paternity pay; and


for an overseas adoption, within 28 days of entry, give her/his employer further evidence of the child's entry into Great Britain. This could be aeroplane tickets or copies of entry clearance documents.

Statutory adoption leave (SAL)


An employee may be entitled to paid statutory adoption leave (SAL) from her/his employer.

Statutory adoption leave will be available to people who:-
are matched for adoption with a child on or after 6 April 2003;

or
are the adopters of a child who enters Great Britain for adoption on or after 6 April 2003;

or
have a child placed for adoption with them on or after 6 April 2003;

and
satisfy the employment requirements and earnings conditions.
