St John’s Youth Group,
for those aged between 10 and 18, meets on Sunday afternoons. They enjoy
a wide range of activities including Bible studies, a BBQ, activities
themed around climate change and lots of games.

In the 2009 Open Week the group had a stall to raise awareness of the
issues surrounding climate change, and collected origami boat petitions
to send to the Prime Minister as part of the Operation Noah’s Ark
campaign. Last year they also went to Wintershall to watch a performance
of the Life of Christ and visited Croydon Police Station for an Open
Day. We have recently started a monthly Bible study class during the 10am Sunday Mass – another opportunity for young people to meet, learn and make friendships, especially for those who can’t make the 4pm meetings. This summer the group is hoping to go to youth camp. However, we need to increase funds by around £700 to make this happen. Our young people are set to meet this challenge through sponsored events, jumble sales and car cleaning after Mass on Sunday. Do help support them as much as possible. |
