REED & SONS

This page shows a brochure from the company "G.Reed & Sons steeplejack and bricksetters" kindly sent in by one of their daughters Joyce Hagan (nee REED) joycehagan@arach.net.au

" Dad worked for his dad (G.REED & SONS) as a Steeple-Jack for many years. Find attached (below) scanned pages from a brochure dad had kept, thought it may interest you".

This document is not only interesting for the old photos of some of Preston's landmarks, some with dimensions and other facts about the structures, but also list some names of key folk in the town and surrounding area at that time. From the testimonials we can see this company was a renowned and well respected company.

Note: It may take a few minutes to download the scanned pages.

The photo shows what is now Blackpool road in the foreground. This mill and chimney (one of only three left in the town) are still in use today as part of the Littlewoods mail order group of companies.

St. Peter's church is now an art centre and part of the University of Central Lancashire campus.
