The Driver

Nick Burton from Melksham, Wiltshire. Having driven on my last stage 1990. I thought it was time to sit back and anjoy a more relaxed lifestyle. No more rushing around perparing the car, the mad rush before an event, then the repairs directly after an event. Well that's what I thought. Pam my long suffering wife and myself had 12 years to ourselves, until our Daughter Amy along with her partner Roger Fletcher bought a rally prepared Vauxhall Nova 1400cc. They asked if I would be interested in helping with the car and servicing on their rallies. As you read on you will see that this is all it took to rekindle my interest in rallying. Both Pam & I thought here we go again!

Now, three years later (after Amy & Roger purchased their car), I have spent the last last year building another Rally car for myself. (This is the sixth rally car built by myself and friends since 1978). I decided it was time to go out and have some fun, not too serious, no championships and just enjoy the sport.

The car is a Vauxhall Corsa 2000cc (8 valve) which was not all plain sailing as hoped in the design and construction. In all this process Roger has been of enormous help, and finally agreed with me the car was now ready for its first outing of which a report will follow.
