Braywood - 45 overs match (too much in my opinion) and they scored 218. We bowled really well but our catching was the worst I've seen for a long time. Considering we had a team full of recent school first XI players it was very disappointing. We should have had them out for 180. We batted, Rob Shafe opened with Joe England, Joe left the field for around 15, yours truly went in at 3 (ask Bobby why) and I scored 61. Very pleased, nearly killed a horse in the field next door. Rob stayed in and Bobby, Ed and Dave Soulsby left without really scoring, we were chasing runs now. John Shafe went in with 2 overs left, we needed 22 and I thought we'd lost it.3 fours and a few very quick singles left us drawing with one ball to go. Rob failed to get a bat on it but enough pad for John to race down the wicket to get in and victory. So when I was in with Rob, he hit a high straight ball that looked like it was going for either six or four, he ambled up the wicket and I shouted to him that it wasn't going to get over the boundary. It didn't. I said to him at the end of the over that if we lost by 1 run I'd kill him. Turns out he finished on 99. Enough said. Guy Mapley, reporter 'in the field' !
