Onnward Venture Scout Unit
Ireland - 26th July to 6th August 1999

WOW. We went to Father Ted's house!!!

This was one of our less exotic camps (it rained lots) but probably the biggest. In total there was 20 of us (leaders are glutens for punishment) We swapped, sea, sand and sun for waterfalls, lakes and rain. Oh, and Guinness testing (strictly for the over 18's). It tasted great!!!

No, but seriously we did more than that. Lots of healthy outside activities: horse riding, canoeing, walking, swimming, sleeping in orange binliners (bivy bags to those in the know) up a mountain (again more rain)...... and a bit of shopping.

Penny - 08/07/01

Being as this was my first venture camp abroad i thought i would write a few words to sum it up for all who were not there. There was a veritable hoard of us there and we did loads of great stuff so i will just put down my most prominant memories of the trip. Some of us (Alice,Anna,Roddy and myself) went and saw Julian Lloyd Weber in concert, we drank guiness, Penny got tied to lots of stuff (naughty Ashley)(god they have been going out ages) but my favourite memory is us camped on the top of a mountain in bivy bags with Chris wearing a teatowel looking like a Russian Grandma.
