HOW TO RECOGNISE IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH TAKING AN OVER-THE-COUNTER DRUG OR MEDICINE...... You may be developing a problem taking an Over-the-counter Drug or Medicine, if.............. {a} You have been self-treating yourself by taking the Product on a regular basis, in excess of the maximum period of treatment recommended on the Product Packaging by the Manufacturers, which is usually just over a period of 7 days continous treatment, AND / OR..... {b} You have been taking the Product regulary, and you are finding you now have to increase the quantity of the Product taken at any one time, in order to obtain the same effects on your body, that you first obtained when you first started taking your original Dose, OR you are still taking the same Dose at one time, as you did when you first started taking the Product, but the effects of this Dose wear off much quicker than it did, at first. This is called "Tolerance" and means that after prolonged use,you have to take, say, 5 Tablets at one time, in order to obtain the same effects on your body as you originally had when you first took 2 Tablets at once, OR you continue to take the 2 Tablets at one time, but instead of their effects lasting the original 4-6 hours, the effects wear off after just 2 hours, so you have to take repeated Doses of the Tablets, more frequently. AND/ OR ...... {c} Following prolonged use of the Product, you find you are now taking the Product for reasons other what you first purchased the Product to self-treat, or for self-treatment of a condition which the Product is not indicated for treatment. E.g- You first purchased the Product to treat a Headache,-your Headache has long disappeared but you continue to take the Product as it helps you relax and makes you feel less anxious and stressed-out. Persons who seem to be prone to developing Problems : = Those who have a previous history of an Addiction to Drugs, Alcohol or other Substance Misuse. = Those who have a medical history of Psychiatric Illnesses, especially Depressive episodes. = Those who, at the time they first start taking the Product, are presenting symptoms of Anxiety and/ or Stress, or Mild Depression, and who find use of the Product, also relieves these symptoms. = Those who believe that all Over-the-counter Drugs and Medicines must be "safe" and "Non-dangerous", because if they were, they would only be available on Prescription-Only basis, from a Doctor. ============================================================ Copyright @ David Grieve, "Over-Count", January 2008 |
