1. The Club shall be called the OXONIAN CYCLING CLUB (hereinafter termed ‘the Club’). Club colours shall be yellow, dark blue, light blue and red.
2. Applications for membership, on official forms, should be sent to the Membership Secretary, together with the appropriate subscription. Candidates shall be proposed and seconded by current first-claim members and elected at the discretion of the Committee. On election each new member shall be notified of the fact and issued with proof of membership.
Second-claim membership will only be granted at the discretion of the Committee and must be reapplied for in January each year (except as in 3(b) below). First-claim members, having resigned membership, may apply for reinstatement as second claim members by the procedure stated above.
3. The Annual Subscription shall be: * Family
a) Seniors (1st and 2nd claim) £12 -

Students whose 1st claim Club is Oxford University CC or Brookes University CC £5
Renewal of subscriptions to maintain membership becomes due and payable on 1st January each year.
Renewal after 1st March constitutes a break in membership and will be treated as a new application.
b) Election after the 30th September covers membership to 31st December of the following year.
b1) Second claim members may upgrade to first claim at any time during the year, informing the committee by letter that they have resigned their previous clubs 1st claim status, and paying the difference in fees, if any, between 1st and 2nd claim membership.
c) Members who have served the Club long and merit-oriously may be granted Honorary Life Membership, at any Annual General Meeting of the Club. A Certificate to this effect shall be presented to the members.
d) For a fee of £2 temporary membership of the Club may be obtained to cover the period up to the date of the next committee meeting. The £2 will be offset against the full subscription rate if full membership is applied for at the next committee meeting. This facility may only be used once.
e) Applications for Life Membership at a rate of five times the Senior annual subscription may be made by members after 10 years’ consecutive membership.
4. There shall be an Annual General Meeting in November each year the agenda for which shall be distributed to members at least two weeks prior to the meeting. Only those propositions appearing on the agenda may be voted on, except at the discretion of the Chairman. Nominations for official positions should be submitted to the General Secretary for inclusion on the agenda.
5. The affairs of the Club and all matters of business shall be managed by a Committee comprising Chairman, officers and members, all of whom shall be elected at the AGM. Five to form a quorum at any Committee meeting.
6. Only First Claim members shall be elected to hold office in any official capacity in the Club.
7. At the AGM an Auditor shall be elected to audit the accounts for the current year.
8. The Committee shall meet once a month or more often if necessary for the transaction of Club business. In the case of equality of votes the Chairman shall have the casting vote. Any member being absent from three consecutive monthly meetings may cease to be a member at the Committee’s discretion. The Committee may elect another member to fill the vacancy.
9. A General Meeting of members may be called at any time by the Committee or at the request of any twelve members of the Club given in writing to the General Secretary. Such a meeting shall be announced by 10 days’ notice given by the General Secretary to every member of the Club.
10. Complaints and suggestions should be made in writing to the General Secretary who shall lay same before the Committee at the next meeting.
11. Club property must be returned to the General Secretary immediately on termination of membership.
12. If the Committee consider the conduct of a member prejudicial to the good name of the Club they may take any action considered appropriate.
13. All questions as to the interpretation of Rules and matters not provided for in the Rules shall be left to the discretion of the Committee.
14. No alteration of Rules may be made except at a General Meeting.
OPEN AND CLUB TIME TRIAL,
ROAD RACE, TRACK AND CYCLO-CROSS
PROMOTIONS AND PERFORMANCES
NOTES:
a) A Junior remains eligible to compete as a Junior until 31st December of the year of his / her eighteenth birthday.
b) The Regulations of the Road Time Trials Council, and the Rules of British Cycling shall be strictly adhered to.
c) Seven days’ notice of entry is required for place-to-place events.
1. The entry fee for Club track promotions shall be at the discretion of the Committee. The entry fee for Club time trials shall be 20p for Juniors and 50p for Seniors.
2. No entry shall be accepted unless the entrant holds proof of membership.
3. The Committee reserve the right to refuse any member’s entry for reasons that seem to them good and sufficient.
4. Should there be any error in running any event the result may be declared void at the Committee’s discretion.
5. Only First Claim members are eligible to win trophies and championships.
6. All medals won by members in Club events, Club B.A.R. competitions, Standard rides, and for Club Records will be of an Oxonian C.C. design (at a cost approved by the Committee).
Club Time Trial Competitions
Rear lights must be used in ALL evening time trials.

7.a) The Club Senior B.A.R. shall be decided over 50 miles, 100 miles and 12 hours, in Club and Open events.
1st : P Chaundry Memorial Shield plus gilt medal
2nd: Silver medal 3rd: bronze medal
b) The Club Vets B.A.R. shall be decided on the Standard for the V.T.T.A. Competition but with the inclusion of times and distances in Club events, over 25 miles, 50 miles, 100 miles and 12 hours. Saxon Trophy
c) The Club Short Distance B.A.R. Competition shall be decided over 10 miles, 25 miles and 50 miles in Club and Open events. Burden/Stone Cup
d) The Club Junior B.A.R. shall be decided over 10 and 25 miles in Club and Open events. Medal or Plaque
e) The Club Juvenile Competitions (Boys and Girls) shall be based on the two best 10 mile rides of the season by each competitor, taking the average of the average speeds in Club and Open events.

f) The Club Women’s B.A.R. shall be decided over 10, 25 and 50 miles in Club and Open events.

g) The Women’s Evening “10s” Competition, introduced in 1999, will be decided on points gained in the Club evening 10s, with scoring the same as for the Burnceaster Cup.

h) The Time Trial League Competition will be decided on points awarded in three divisions.

Points are awarded on the basis of 15 points for 1st in each division, down to 1 point for 10th and below.
A rider’s category is based on their fastest time from the previous season in Oxonian CC events.
New members will be assessed on their first few rides and placed accordingly with relevant points.
Second Claim members will receive the same points as if they were first claim, but will be listed separately to avoid conflict. The score is for comparison only, and does not qualify for any awards
Riders remain in their divisions all season, and are promoted or relegated at the end of the year for the following season.
Points will be awarded at all Oxonian CC Open, and Club time trial events, except 2 up time trials.
Points for marshalling.
Points equal to a preceding ride will be awarded for each marshalling duty nominated on the Club form at the beginning of the season. If two or more duties are at consecutive events, the subsequent duties attract half the number of the preceding duty.
Only duties nominated on the form will qualify.
Medals or Plaques
i) Entries for the 100 miles and 12 hours handicap competitions must be submitted to the Time Trials Secretary
on standard RTTC entry forms no later than the end of the first week in May. Entries may be submitted for bicycle or tricycle. To compete on both machines an entrant must submit two forms.
The entries will be handicapped by a person nominated by the Committee.
100 miles: John Bull Trophy 12 hours: Falck Cup
j) Claims for The Steve Hawkes Trophy, B.A.Rs. and Handicap 100 miles and 12 Hours Competitions should be submitted to the Time Trial Secretary by 31st October.
Club Records
8.a) Seven days’ clear notice in writing is required of any special attempt on Club Records.
b) Claims on Club Records set up in Club events must be made in writing within 28 days of the date of the performance.
c) Claims on Club Records set up in Open events must be made in writing within 28 days from the date of receiving the result sheet.
d) An Oxonian Gilt Medal shall be awarded to the member equalling or breaking the existing Standard thereby estab-lishing a Club Record. On the establishment of a record
an Oxonian Gilt Medal shall then be awarded to any member lowering the Record subject only to the Record being accepted by the Committee.
e) Claims for Club Records by Second Claim members will not be accepted.
f) Team records:-
Record claims for teams of 3 solo riders in: Open, Semi-open or Association events, at 10 miles, 25 miles, 30 miles, 50 miles, 100 miles, 12 hours and 24 hours, events must be made in writing within 28 days from the date of receiving the result sheet.
