The roads can be chaotic in Vietnam, though drivers are not aggressive.

Out tour leader told us that if you intend waiting for a break in the traffic to cross the road, then carry food with you. The trick is to walk across the road slowly, purposefully, and not to stop or (even worse) turn back.
