Before the pandas travelled, other pandas were collected on overseas trips. To the left is N.Y.P.B. (New York Panda Bear) at a baseball match, dressed in the strip of the New York Mets. This bear was purchased at the match and brought back to England, to take his place with all the other pandas in residence. |

Punchy 2 was the first panda to journey out from England to investigate the world. In Fredericton, the capital of New Brunswick in Canada, he made friends with Knuckles the Pig. The picture below was the first "travelling panda" photo. |
