Hiring a car is not absolutely necessary, but does allow you to visit the more beautiful, remote areas and places of interest that are not accessible by public transport. Driving is on the left hand side as in the UK and all the road signs are in English, with distances in kilometres.

Alternatively, if you decide to hire a car for a few days once you're in Paphos, there are literally dozens of car hire companies to choose from. However you decide to hire, you will need to have a full UK driving licence with you.
