New Patient Information
At your first visit you will be asked to fill in some paperwork - a medical history sheet and NHS form if needed. You will meet one of our Orthodontists who will have a look at your teeth. One or two x-rays may also be taken. We will the discuss with you whether treatment is possible and/or desirable. For many patients that we see, it is too early to start treatment. Often there are more teeth to grow and we frequently review you in 6-18 months.

If you are the right age to start we will explain what treatment is likely to involve. Most often this is fixed braces. Sometimes if you have a very crowded mouth we will suggest the removal of some teeth first. Your regular Dental Practitioner will generally organise this.
You will then need to decide if you would like to go ahead. This is really your decision. If you are happy with your teeth, there is probably no point in changing them. There is little evidence that straight teeth are any more healthy than slightly irregular ones. If you don't like your teeth then braces are a simple, effective way of correcting your teeth and bite.
After discussing the treatment options, if you want to go ahead, we can usually book appointments. If you want to think about things then you can telephone for appointments.
All patients under 18 with moderate and severe problems will have the option of NHS treatment.
If you have mild problems NHS treatment will not be available and we will explain the costs for self-funded treatment.
We look forward to seeing you.
