We have a thriving youth band of approximately 25 youngsters ranging in age from 5 to 18ish. The band welcomes all new players and is able to provide an instrument, music, uniform and support for those in their early years of playing.

The aim of the band is to encourage youngsters to improve their playing through a shared enjoyment of working with others. We have a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, members of the band suggest music to play, sometimes conduct a piece and recently initiated the purchase of a more modern uniform.

Performances in the 2007-08 season included:

  • Brighton 'Bandstand' on the seafront as part of the Save the Bandstand Campaign

  • Southern Counties Amateur Band Association Quartets and Ensembles competition in Ringmer
(We achieved one first place, two third places and had the youngest player in the competition)

  • The Hawth Crawley as part of SCABA's anniversary celebrations
(Joint performance with the Mid Sussex Youth Brass Band - read details on the SCABA website)

  • Henfield Open Gardens

  • Lancing College Preparatory School Fete

We rehearse on Friday evenings from 7-7:45pm during term time. Our more experienced members then stay to join in with our adult band rehearsal until 8:45pm.
